Celebrities across Lancashire have paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II who died earlier today (September 8).

Comedians, actors, singers, reality stars and sportspeople across the county have shared their condolences on social media.

Blackburn comedian, Tez Ilyas, said: “Mum is very emotional.

“Forget what she means to so many people. She was Queen from the first moment my mum came to the country and was a constant throughout her life.

“ Also mum just found out that Boris Johnson is no longer Prime Minister. Big hour for her.”

Carl Fogarty MBE, a motorcycle racing legend from Blackburn, said: “Sad to hear of the Queen's passing… rest in peace Your Majesty.”

Blackburn’s Alex Bain, who plays Simon Barlow in Coronations Street, said he was “grateful” to have met the Queen during her reign.

He said: “Such sad news to hear that Queen Elizabeth II has passed away.

“My condolences go out to her family at this time.

“We feel so privileged at Coronation Street to have met Her Majesty before she passed away.

“May she rest in peace forever.”

Blackburn Rovers’ Bradley Dack and Blackburn-born presenter AJ Odudu both posted a picture of the Queen captioned with heart emojis and doves.

Accrington singer Diana Vickers went to the pub before the announcement.

The former X-Factor star was dressed in black and raised a toast to the Queen when the sad announcement was made.

She said: “We all knew it would happen so I made sure I was in a pub for the news and drink in hand for Queenie. Rest in peace you icon.”

Tyson Fury, the world heavyweight champion boxer who lives in Morecambe, said: “Thoughts and prayers with my Queen tonight.

“May God be with you.”

 

 

The Radford family, also from Morecambe, said: “God bless you Queen Elizabeth II. May you rest in peace with your one true love.”
