A NEW coffee house is opening in Bury.

Bob and Berts is to move into an empty unit next to the Racconto Lounge.

The coffee shop, which includes a dining area, prides itself on using fresh ingredients and playing a part in the community in supporting local charities and businesses.

David Ferguson started the company with a group of friends.

He said: “I’m very excited to be opening a store in Bury. We hope it will provide something a bit different, a place where people can go to relax and that will be a centre for the community.

“I’ve been really proud of the progress we’ve made since 2013 and I hope we can bring some more of what makes us unique.

“For people in the community who have never been to a Bob and Berts store or maybe never heard the name, I hope they come and along and give us a try because they’ll be in for something they can’t get anywhere else.

“Each one of our stores has ties and connections with local organisations in that area, and that’s something we’re looking to do in Bury.”

The company will invest up to £500,000 in the unit to kit it out and provide 20 new jobs.

The up-and-coming company opened in the small coastal town of Portstewart, Northern Ireland where it has 15 branches and has since opened four branches in Scotland and three others in England, in Lancaster, Kendal and Preston.

Later this year, the company has plans to expand across the North West, including into possible sites in Blackpool, Manchester and Southport.

Announcing the opening, a spokesman for The Rock said: “We are excited to announce that Bob and Berts Bury will be opening here at The Rock in just a few weeks time.”

The new coffee shop is already attracting a lot of interest on social media.

One person commented on Facebook: “This looks like it’s going to be a good one to try.”
