Britain’s largest family have embarked on a Christmassy day out at an East Lancashire farm – and the owners say they were delighted to have them on site.
The Radford Family, who live in Morecambe, visited Mrs Dowson’s Farm in Clayton-le-Dale on Sunday (12 December) for their Christmas at the Farm event.
The family even documented their visit on social media, with pictures and videos showing them decorating gingerbread people, meeting Father Christmas and playing with their new teddy bears.
In an Instagram post, the family-of-24 said: “Such a lovely day today at Mrs Dowson's farm. The kids had fun decorating gingerbread biscuits and meeting Santa and his elves.
Owner of the farm, Amanda Dowson, said they were a “sweet” family who threw themselves into the festive experience.
She said: “They are such a nice family – they are really sweet. They embraced everything on the farm. They spent 20 minutes with father Christmas and their little faces lit up... It was magical to see.
“I had a word with Father Christmas afterwards and he said they were a lovely family and the kids were so well behaved… they were so involved in what he was doing. He said it was a real pleasure to have them on site and that their visit made his day.
“The children took their teddies home so they even have a memory to take with them.”
Mrs Dowson said the family had great things to say about the farm experience, adding that it was “really well done and well organised”.
She added: “They interacted with all the animals as well so that was an added bonus.
“They were in there for a long time playing with Walter the water buffalo. He puts his head on your shoulder and will go to sleep on you if you give him a stroke.”
It’s not the first time the Radford Family have been to the farm as they also visited back in September.
Amanda Dowson said: “It’s so nice that they support what we are doing here and that they keep coming back."
It’s the second year that the Christmas at the Farm event has been running – and you better be quick if you want to visit as tickets are limited.
Mrs Dowson said: “It’s very much an adventure… not just a Santa’s grotto.
“It’s so great to be able to bring this experience to families and children in a safe environment.
“This year it’s bigger and better than ever. Everyone that has been through said it is brilliant and beyond what they thought it would be.”
The “adventure” begins at Mrs Claus’ kitchen. Here you will be warmly welcomed by Mrs Claus and her little elves to help decorate a gingerbread person before enjoying story time with Mrs Claus herself.
Next stop is the Elf Academy; here, you have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be inducted as an honourary el. Learn all the spells that bring magic to Christmas and earn a spot on Father Christmas' team.
Once you've completed Elf academy it's time to head to the elf checkpoint and see who's on the naughty or nice list.
Of course, you'll get to meet Father Christmas himself and he will give each child their own magical bear heart before they visit the elf workshop to choose and make their own furry friend to take home with you.
