A five-year-old child was airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a car.
At around 5.30pm on Tuesday emergency services were called to Clayton Way, Clayton-le-Moors.
The child was airlifted to hospital with suspected serious injuries but it later turned out that she only had minor injuries.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to Clayton Way, Clayton-le-Moors to reports of a collision involving a Kia Sportage and a five-year-old child. The child was taken to hospital but, thankfully, her injuries were minor and she has since been discharged. Nobody has been arrested."
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they were called at 5.33pm to the crash scene.
They said: “A five-year-old was airlifted to hospital.”
