BURY Hospice is launching a limited edition recipe book to celebrate its 30th anniversary filled with heart-warming recipes from stars who support the charity.

Hospice supporter May Shipperbottom was inspired to launch the new cookbook in memory of her friend and fellow fundraiser, Michelle King, who died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm last year.

Michelle was known among community groups and businesses across the town through her fundraising work and got to know May through her involvement with Radcliffe Support Group.

May wanted to pay tribute to Michelle and at the same time raise vital funds for the hospice.

She said: “This is my very special recipe book in memory of my dear friend, Michelle, for Bury Hospice’s 30th anniversary.

“My book contains recipes from celebrities with pictures including Betty’s Rovers hot pot, Michelle Keegan, Noddy Holder, Lisa Riley, Sally Carman and many more. There are also recipes from hospice staff, volunteers and local restaurants.

“I would like to thank my beautiful granddaughter, Georgia, who has done all the artwork and Noreen Kershaw, who is a hospice trustee, for all her help.”

The cookbook will be on sale for £9.99 and will be launched at the ‘Cheer For Charity’ event in The Rock on Saturday, June 19, as they unveil their giant heart donation stations to raise funds for the hospice. All proceeds from sales of the cookbook will go directly to Bury Hospice.

Visitors to The Rock will also have an opportunity to purchase Bury Hospice merchandise including t-shirts, running vests, water bottles, coffee mugs, shopping bags, teddy bears and the 30th celebration pin badges.

May has also arranged for several celebrities to attend the event. Sally Carman, Jimmy Cricket, Peter Gunn and John Henderson are among the star-studded line-up.

There will be a Roch Valley Radio DJ, performers from The Carol Godby Theatre Workshop and cheerleading sessions for children who can take home commemorative pom-poms and a certificate to mark their participation.
