POLICE have attended reports of 'children throwing debris' on to the M61.

The incident was reported as having between junctions three and four northbound - in the Farnworth/ Little Hulton area.

Police patrols have been sent to the areas along with highways team, while divisional patrols have been tasked to attend the over bridge in the area.

The incident was reported on Facebook by North West Motorway Police (NWMP), along with a stark message of 'it's not big and it's not clever."

A spokesman for NWMP said: "We have taken reports of children throwing debris onto the Motorway #M61 J3 to J4 Northbound.

"Police patrols have attended the area with Highways. Divisional patrols have been tasked to attend the over bridge.

"This is not big and it's not clever and could endanger road users.

"If you have friends/family with children do have this conversation with them to educate them and assist us. Much appreciated."
