EMERGENCY services were in attendance in Radcliffe last night amid reports of a man on a roof.

The A665 Bolton Road was closed both ways between Turf Street and Foster Street due to the incident

Officers were first called out just before 5.40pm in the evening.

Ambulances and the service were also on the scene.

One person was taken to hospital as a result of the incident.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Just before 5.40pm today (10 June 2021), officers were called to a report of a man in distress on a roof on Dean Street in Radcliffe.

"Officers, along with colleagues from NWAS and GMFRS are also in attendance."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 6pm this evening (Thursday 10 June), one fire engine from Whitefield fire station was mobilised to Dean Street, Radcliffe, in of support colleagues from Greater Manchester Police.

“The crew was in attendance at the scene for around 40 minutes.”

A spokeswoman for NWAS said: "We received a 999 call reporting a concern for welfare incident at Dean Street, Radcliffe, at 17.43.

"We have taken a patient to hospital."

Transport for Greater Manchester advised people to avoid the scene in a tweet.

The official account posted: "GMP have closed the following roads due to an ongoing incident in Radcliffe.

"Please avoid the area if you can - public transport is not affected at this time."

The North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
