Billinge completed their JB Parker Cup group fixtures with a poor performance losing 3-2 to Lostock Gralam.

Both sides had already qualified for the quarter-final with just top place in the group at stake and it was Lostock Gralam that took that honour.

The Storks only got going when they were 3-0 down pulling goals back in the 57th and 67th minutes through Zak Riley and Lewis Jones, respectively.

The match was the complete opposite from last week when Billinge won 3-2 while playing with ten men for an hour but this time it was the visitors that lost a man on the half-hour mark with Jack Woolley seeing red for kicking The Storks keeper Kieran Halliday.

At this stage Lostock were 1-0 ahead after an own goal from Liam Fitzgerald but the loss of a man didn't affect them as they surged into a three-goal lead through Joseph Woolley and Ryan Jackson.

The last 30 minutes saw The Storks throw everything at the visitors as Marios Avraam, Danny Murphy and Jones all had shots saved by Jacob Kirwan while substitutes Aaron Bowen and Richie Allen might feel they should have done better with headers.

However, it wasn't t be as The Grey lambs held on for a deserved victory and in doing so topped the group.

St Helens Star:

After the game manager Wayne Wardle said: "We were simply not good enough today and I include myself in that.

"We moved the game to a 3G surface - as Barrows Farm was waterlogged - and it was perfect so we can't blame that; to put it simply too many players had very poor games.

"The saving grace was that our reserves continued their good form winning 2-1 away from home at Broadheath Central while our under-13s finished their season joint top of the league.

St Helens Star:

"As for the first team we will write it off as a bad day at the office, await the draw for the quarter-finals and then prepare properly for that game on Saturday."
