HUNDREDS more residents have queued up to receive a coronavirus vaccination jab at Essa Academy today, marking in a weekend of action at the site.
The large queue has stretched onto Lever Edge Lane with many cars parked up on the surrounding estate as people flocked to get vaccinated against Covid-19 following a plea by health chiefs.
People living, working or studying in the BL3 or BL4 postcode areas have been eligible to have a vaccine at the site between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and today.
Volunteers have been the ages of people and where they are from to determine whether they are eligible to be given a jab.
Workers from security firm, The ExcluSec Group, have been present in case tensions flared.
Free tea and coffee, biscuits and water have been on offer for people waiting in line to make their experiences more comfortable.
Former Indian cricketer Rashid Patel, who lives nearby, was also giving out refreshments and biscuits to residents.

Resident Phil Taylor witnessed the volunteers at work and said the operation was very effective and that he was impressed by the speed it is being run at.
More vaccines have been administered over the weekend as the town battles to help protect residents from the virus following the spiralling infection rate in Bolton after cases of the Indian variant have been detected.
