A Man who gave false details to police before attempting to flee from officers this afternoon was found to be in breach of bail.

Officers stopped a man in Bolton earlier today who gave them false details about his identity before fleeing the scene and climbing up some scaffolding.

After a short foot chase, officers managed to coax him back down, where he was arrested after being discovered to be in breach of a court order for drugs offences.

It comes as officers from Greater Manchester Police traffic unit have been out in force across the region today and have been targeting drivers without a licence or insurance.

A total of seven vehicles were seized today and all the drivers were reported for the offences.

A GMP Traffic spokesperson said: "Transport unit officers stopped a vehicle in Bolton where the driver gave false details then made off on foot and climbed some nearby scaffolding to get away.

"After some good negotiating skills he came down and was found to be wanted for breach of court bail for a drugs offence."

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for more information about the incident.
