THIS is the first glimpse of how a ‘cook your own steak’ restaurant set to open in Cathedral Square, Blackburn, could look.

Restaurant chain The Firepit will open this month in the town centre, with diners able to cook their own steak on a lava rock in the middle of the table.

Artist's impressions have been released of what the restaurant will look like inside.

Firepit founder, Andrew Novak, 39, said: “It is a really good spot. It has been a long time since I have been to Blackburn.

"The renovations of town that they are doing and the Cathedral looks amazing.

"It's a great spot and it's very exciting.

"We want to bring more of the city life – a nice dining experience, cocktails and live music.

"We hope by having more quality venues in the town more people will invest."

Andy was hoping to have the restaurant ready for May 17 when indoor hospitality can return however due to some delays, the opening date is more likely to be slightly later in the month.

The chain started with a venue in Rawtenstall and now has restaurants in St Annes and Southport, with the Blackburn site becoming the fourth restaurant.

The new restaurant, in the unit formerly tenanted by A Mano and Al Cristallo Italian venues, will create 30 jobs and hold up to 100 diners.

Its signature dish is steak-on-a-stone cooked at the table on a 350 degree lava rock, which holds its temperature to ensure it is done exactly to the customer’s liking.
