A POLICE chase around Little Hulton ended after a 'stinger' was used.

The pursuit took place last night and, officers say, the driver fled on foot after but was soon detained.

The motorist was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, with the vehicle seized.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police traffic unit said: "Vehicle involved in a pursuit with traffic around Little Hulton was brought to a safe conclusion via use of Stinger. Once all 4 tyres were flat the driver fled on foot but was soon detained by.

"Arrested no licence, no insurance and vehicle seized."

A stinger is a spike strip used to stop their vehicles in their tracks by puncturing the tyres
 

Police said another driver soon regretted the decision to overtake an unmarked police vehicle in Farnworth.

Officers said that the driver was wanted in connection with a serious assault.

They said:" It turned out they had no licence, no insurance. Driver arrested and vehicle seized."
