A PAY windfall totalling nearly £45,000 is coming to 67 town hall staff, according to officials.

Council papers show the bulk of the missing cash, around £41,300, occurs when workers are not awarded incremental salary increases.

Smaller amounts relate to casual and contracted staff being paid according to outdated payment tables.

Lynne Risdale, the borough's deputy chief executive, confirmed in a decision notice all affected staff had been placed on the correct pay by April 1.

Backpay is being calculated on a "case-by-case" basis and could either be paid in a lump sum or over a period of time.

Five employees were also found to have been overpaid as a result of the same exercise.
