IMPROVEMENTS have been approved for sporting facilities at Farnworth Cricket Club.

The club applied to Bolton Council for the erection of a two-lane artificial surface practice facility along the western boundary at the club.

The practice facility will consist of a fully enclosed two-bay cricket practice surface and a heavy duty cricket practice cage with a side gate, measuring 33m by 7m.

It will be accessed from the main entrance from Lavender Road.

A report from planners said: “The proposed two-lane practice facility will be located on the western boundary of the cricket field on an area which is currently used as part of the outfield.

“Lanes are a very common structure at cricket clubs across Bolton.

“The proposal will improve the quality and multi-functional benefits of the cricket club.

“The proposed development would not be visible from Brian Road due to the 2.1m high fence and mature trees along the western boundary which act as a screen between the properties of Brian Road.

“It is therefore considered that the proposed development would not adversely impact on the character and appearance of the area.”
