A HEARTBROKEN community has gathered to share their grief and pay tribute to a schoolboy who was fatally stabbed this morning.
Reece Tansey died at the age of just 15-years-old leading to an outpouring of grief from his friends, who organised a balloon release in his memory on the playing fields of his school, Harper Green in Farnworth.
Around 50 people, still in shock, some in tears, gathered on the grounds, many carrying balloons.
Most were Reece's age but there were some adults who attended too.
Balloons were released in tribute before those gathered left scene grief stricken.
A murder investigation is now underway after police were called to Walker Avenue in Great Lever after police were called to the stabbing.
Police remain on the scene as tributes pour in for the schoolboy.
One stated:"rip reece, i honestly can't believe what i'm writing right now,my heart is in bits. i just can't believe what has happened to you , put down your knives taking innocent peoples lives!! I love you always reece hope you're okay up there xx"
