AN APPLICATION to extend a campsite to provide additional pitches and new glamping pods has been refused.
Proposals to add to the site at Marl Barn, which is situated on Wigglesworth Road in Slaidburn, were rejected by the Ribble Valley Borough Council.
There had also been intentions to build new welfare facilities and a toilet on the site.
Planning documents recently published read: “The proposed development, by virtue of its siting, form and design, would form a prominent and incongruous feature that would fail to conserve and enhance the visual amenity and landscape character of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
“The proposal does not comprise sustainable development and there were no amendments to the scheme, or conditions that could reasonably have been imposed, which could have made the development acceptable, and it was therefore not possible to approve the application.”
