An East Lancashire pub has made it to the final of the Community Pub Hero Awards.
The Clifton Arms in Blackburn is one of just 10 pubs from across the country to reach the finals of the awards, which have been organised by PubAid and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group.
Recognised for its community support during lockdown, the team at the Clifton Arms, on Grimshaw Park, stayed connected to their community by sending out boxes of essential groceries to vulnerable locals and provided hot meals and clothing for the homeless.
Led by licensee Carole Davis, the team pride themselves on always being available to help anyone in need, and it is for that reason that they've made it into the top 10 community pubs.
Mrs Davies said: "To make it down to the final 10 in the awards, well, I was shocked.
"My amazing team at the Clifton are a force of nature. I'm so proud of them all.
"They are caring, thoughtful, and full of compassion.
"It's an honour to be part of the journey we share together.
"Alone with can do so little, together we can achieve more."
Around 115 pubs are entered into the Community Pub Hero awards, and are usually nominated by their local MP.
This is the third year of the competition, which was renamed in 2021 from it's former, Charity Pub of the Year, title.
The ten finalists are:
- The Angel and Crown, Richmond
- The Bevy, Brighton
- The Bowgie Inn, Crantock near Newquay
- The Clifton Arms, Blackburn
- The Horse and Jockey, Melling, Merseyside
- The Mowden, Darlington
- The Old Courts, Wigan
- The Orange Tree, Hertfordshire
- The Portobello Inn, Kent
- The Portsmouth Arms, Basingstoke
The overall Community Pub Hero will be announced on May 11.
