Children at Altham St James are looking forward to welcoming new classmates on board following recent developments at the village school.

A brand new reception class modular classroom has been installed along with an outdoor class and a covered outdoor play area.

Head teacher Carol Wood said the new, state-of-the-art facilities complement the existing woodland area, playing field and adventure area.

“Learning should be fun and we hope the new additions to our facilities will help us achieve the correct balance,” said Mrs Wood.

“The new building is designed for purpose and is a marvellous asset for the school. We are very lucky that we have such a fantastic learning environment.

"Everyone is always really surprised when they see the beautiful school grounds and facilities that we have.

"We have fabulous children and parents and we work as a team to get the best for our family school."

The school has expanded in recent years and now has four classes: reception, year 1/2, year 3/4 and year 5/6.
