A VILLAGE pub has announced it will be reopening on June 21 under new management.

The Cross Guns, Egerton, will be headed up by Jon Peek and says it will offer a selection of modern and traditional English dishes to customers.

The menu has been redesigned and the pub will also include a function facility for 70 guests and an Art Deco cocktail lounge.

Jon brings with him over 15 years’ experience in hospitality, most recently as manager at Marco Pierre White’s luxury hotel the Rudloe Arms.

As well as running the hotel, Jon was involved in many diverse projects with Marco including hosting ‘A’ list events and co-producing shows such as BBC’s Maestro, Marco’s first television programme in over ten years.

Prior to working at Rudloe, Jon managed the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in the Cube in Birmingham.

He said: “Having worked closely with Marco for the last five years, I have learned from the very best and I’m very excited to bring my knowledge and experience to manage my own venue. Marco is a visionary chef and operator with a passion for driving excellence within his venues.

“I hope to bring that same passion to my operation of the ‘Guns’.”

“Emerging out of the Covid crisis will be operationally challenging in hospitality, but I am excited to get started and re-welcome guests with health and safety at the forefront.”

Pubs reopened on Monday, April 12, for eating and drinking outside in accordance with social distancing rules and limitations on who people can meet up with.

The rules for outdoor dining limit groups to two households, or a maximum of six people from more than two households.

Indoor hospitality is due to reopen on May 17, but this is subject to strict restrictions as well.

The dates were outlined in the PM’s roadmap.
