THREE casualties have been rushed to hospital following a house fire in Little Hulton this afternoon.

Six fire engines attended a blaze near the Salford shopping precinct this afternoon and local residents are being urged to avoid the area.

Officers were called to a scene on Longshaw Drive shortly after 1230pm today after reports of a house fire in the area.

Three casualties have been conveyed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and a number of residents were evacuated and checked as a precaution by North West Ambulance Service.

Firefighters were able to stop significant fire spread to neighbouring properties and will be in attendance at the scene for a number of hours.

Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels, one jet, a turntable ladder and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire."

Smoke could be seen billowing from the property by eyewitnesses while firefighters pulled out doors and other bits of wreckage from the scene.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 12:33 on 20 April 2021 six fire engines from across Greater Manchester responded to a fire at a domestic premises on Longshaw Drive, Little Hulton.

"An aerial platform, breathing apparatus unit, command support unit and support appliances are also in attendance.

"Fire crews are currently on scene using six breathing apparatus, three hose reels and one jet.

"Local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows shut and avoid the area.

"Fire crews remain at the scene of the incident on Longshaw Drive, Little Hulton. Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels, one jet, a turntable ladder and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire."
