SIX fire engines are attending a blaze in Little Hulton this afternoon and local residents are being urged to avoid the area.

Officers were called to a scene on Longshaw Drive shortly after 1230pm today after reports of a house fire near a shopping precinct.

Fire crews remain on the street while smoke can be seen billowing from the property. Firefighters are pulling out doors and other bits of wreckage from the scene.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 12:33 on 20 April 2021 six fire engines from across Greater Manchester responded to a fire at a domestic premises on Longshaw Drive, Little Hulton.

"An aerial platform, breathing apparatus unit, command support unit and support appliances are also in attendance.

"Fire crews are currently on scene using six breathing apparatus, three hose reels and one jet.

"Local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows shut and avoid the area."
