FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a blaze in a shipping container at an industrial site in Bolton town centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Plumes of black smoke could be seen from Le Mans Crescent as the fire broke out off Moor Lane.
A fire engine arrived at Hanover Street shortly after 1.30pm with firefighters using hoses to extinguish the blaze.
The shipping container was located on the edge of an area of wasteland in a fenced-off car park at the rear of a building.
The fire affected one end of the shipping container - it is not known what the container was used for- and crews managed to arrive before the fire could spread.
A witness reported that there had been a smaller fire at the site earlier in the day and building work was being done at the site.
