THIS great photo was taken in April 1987 at the Horwich Folk Day.

It looks like hot stuff but these Rivington Morris ladies made sure the Bay Horse pub was not too far away when they performed at the Horwich Town Folk Day.

They were among four teams who entertained passing shoppers in glorious spring sunshine.

The Folk Day was virtually self-funded, with the exception of a £150 grant from Horwich Town Council.

Along with banjo and songwriting workshops at the leisure centre, there was also a dialect poetry competition.

The first Horwich Folk Day took place in April 1984 and took up where the old Horwich Festival left off in 1983.

Morris Dancing was enjoyed by both gentlemen and ladies.
