IT was a problem which the majority of towns in East Lancashire faced in the post war years - what to do with outdated and, in many cases, uninhabitable, properties.
This photo shows some derelict cottages at Wensley Fold, Blackburn, which were due for demolition in 1965. Often a legacy of the boom years of the industrial revolution, houses like these had gradually ceased to become fit for purpose costing too much to repair.
