A ROUND-UP of people who have been sentenced recently.

A MAN caught driving a VW Golf on the M62 motorway without insurance on May 20 last year has been banned from the roads for six months.The case against Muhammad Atcha, aged 20 of Burwell Close, Bolton, was proved and he was fined £180.

A WOMAN caught driving a Mercedes on the motorway at 96mph has been banned from the roads for two weeks. Jenny Grimshaw, aged 43, of Sharples Hall Drive, Bolton, committed the offence on the M62 at Rochdale on August 14, 2019. She was also fined £461.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on February 20. Timothy Bannister, aged 42, of Drake Hall, Westhoughton, was also ordered to participate in 33 days of a building better relationships programme and 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

A MERCEDES driver who had drunk more than double the legal alcohol limit has been banned from holding a licence for 18 months. Mark Shaw, aged 48, of Whitehead Crescent, Stoneclough, committed the offence when he drove on Lees Road, Swinton, on March 7. He was also fined £300.

A BENEFIT cheat who failed to disclose that she was living with a partner has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. Georgia Piggott, aged 22, of Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton, received large overpayments in housing benefit and income support between September 2017 and August 2019 which she was not entitled to after she failed to notify the authorities that she was living with Jorden Edge.

MAGISTRATES have fined Elizabeth Ward, aged 26, of Hall Lane, Farnworth, £660 and banned her from driving for six months after she failed to name the driver of a Peugeot 308 to police.

A BMW driver has been banned from the roads for drug-driving. Marcus Coburn, aged 34, of Albert Road, Farnworth, denied committing the offence when he drove a BMW3 series on Albert Road on August 31 after using cocaine and cannabis but he was convicted after a trial. Coburn admitted driving without insurance and failing to stop for police. He was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £120.

A THIEF who stole planters, worth £1,000, from the Ellesmere shopping centre at Walkden, on November 27 last year has been electronically tagged and sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 12 weeks. Craig Power, aged 50, of Hengist Street, Bolton, must pay £500 in compensation.
