Joe Kizzi scored the only goal as Bromley edged past Solihull Moors in a tight encounter.

In a game of few clear cut chances, Kizzi made that all important breakthrough rising beyond the far post to power his header from Frankie Raymond’s delivery beyond the helpless Ryan Boot.

Bromley manager, Neil Smith, made one enforced change to the team that won at Yeovil Town in their previous outing. Jack Holland’s injury meant that he missed out with Chris Bush replacing him.

Early half chances went the way of the Moors’ striker Adam Rooney. First he got on the end of a deep Jordan Cranston free kick but his deflection was saved comfortably by Mark Cousins. Then Rooney got in behind but Bush recovered to make a great block.

When Bromley attempted to get an attack going Kizzi crossed to the far post but the angle was against Raymond and he was unable to head it into the danger area.

Jamie Ward had a shot blocked by Byron Webster before Cranston tried an audacious effort from inside his own half but it floated wide of Cousins’ post.

Raymond tried his luck for Bromley with a thirty-five yard free kick that was saved easily by Boot before Courtney Duffus went down with a head injury as he tried to stop Tyrone Williams from shepherding it out for a goal kick. After lengthy treatment, a change out of his blood stained shirt and shorts, and a bandaged head, he was able to return.

As a result, there were seven additional minutes played and twice Duffus might have broken the deadlock. First he could only head the ball straight up in the air from Luke Coulson’s teasing cross and then he found himself one-on-one with Boot after the goalkeeper’s attempted clearance went straight to him but he curled wide of the far post.

However, the last chance of the half fell to Jamie Ward but his effort was deflected wide by Coulson.

After the interval a Raymond cross picked out Michael Cheek but his header had no power and Boot claimed it comfortably. Bush then hurled in a long throw that was nodded on by Liam Trotter but Cheek again had to stretch and was unable to bother Boot.

Taylor Maloney shot wide after Duffus had held it up well and then Jack Bridge went down in the area but the referee felt that the tackle was good and awarded a corner.

Raymond had a dangerous corner tipped away by Boot for another corner before Coulson’s delivery resulted in a scramble in the six yard box that ended when it struck Trotter and rebounded past the post.

Although the Ravens were now well on top there was still danger on the break and a foul by Kizzi on Justin Donawa gave the Moors a free kick in a dangerous position. Ward struck it well but the wall did its job and deflected it wide for a corner.

Kizzi then made the all important breakthrough with his towering header into the bottom corner but the Moors came close to levelling immediately when Donawa headed over from Cranston’s cross.

Donawa again came close with a shot deflected wide before Ward drew an excellent save out of Cousins.

One last chance came Solihull’s way but Cameron Archer headed over and Bromley held out for a deserved victory.
