THE UK’s biggest touring outdoor cinema company, Adventure Cinema, has confirmed a date at Heaton Park this summer.

Film and Food Fest, which takes place September 23-26, will feature four days of outdoor cinema, with classic movies and recent releases, stand up comedy from some of the UK’s best-loved comedians, local street food from each city and specially-curated short films from regional film makers in each location.

Each Thursday evening of Film and Food Fest will feature a special showcase of short movies from some of the UK’s finest independent filmmakers.

Different in each region, the showcase will highlight the work of local creatives, giving their films a major platform, and giving audiences an exclusive chance to see some fantastic new cinema. £2 from every ticket sold for the short film nights will also be used to support local film organisations within each city.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons will be reserved for fantastic family films, with classics like The Lion King and The Goonies, and modern favourites like The Greatest Showman Sing-A-Long, Onward and Doolittle.

There will also be mouthwatering street food from local traders, curated by Street Food Warehouse. Guests can expect everything from gourmet burgers and bruschetta, to crepes and caramel ice-cream, along with a dedicated bar, serving great beers and bespoke cocktails. Gates will open up to three hours before each film starts, to ensure visitors have plenty of time to enjoy the facilities.

A spokesperson said: "Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings will feature fantastic live comedy from some of the UK’s most exciting comedians, followed by blockbuster movies. With a varied mix of films on offer - including favourites such as Grease and Dirty Dancing and some of 2020’s finest like Joker, JoJo Rabbit and The Invisible Man - there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

"To ensure the safety of its events, Film & Food Fest will be taking place exclusively in socially spacious, outdoor venues across the country. There will also be other measures in place, meaning the festival will be 100-per-cent compliant with government safety guidelines."
