Bolton is one of the UK’s top five most vegan-friendly towns and cities, according to a new report.

Meal replacement and diet company Exante has carried out a study of Britain’s most vegan-friendly places, with Bolton taking fifth position.

The results place it ahead of London, which came in at number six on the list.

The study used TripAdvisor data to calculate the percentage of restaurants in each city that offer both delivery and vegan options.

It found that 55 of the 104 restaurants in Bolton offering takeaway or delivery services cater to people following plant-based diets.

In other words, 53% of Bolton’s takeout or delivery eateries are vegan-friendly.

Of course, Bolton's foodies have long known that the town boasts an amazing array of plant-based options.

According to Trip Advisor, some of our town's most popular restaurants that cater to vegans include the Royal Balti House, Amico Cafe Bolton and Rama Spice in Atherton.

Luton is the UK’s most vegan-friendly spot, according to the study, with 58% of its restaurants offering vegan options.

It is followed by Brighton and Hove, Reading and Bristol.

Although London offers the most choice for vegans, with 1,113 vegan-friendly restaurants offering delivery, this amounts to 52% of its total restaurants, placing it behind Bolton in the rankings.
