A TOTAL of thirteen deaths from coronavirus have been recorded by Lancashire hospitals according to the latest figures.

Six of the deaths were reported by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust which runs Royal Blackburn and Burnley General Hospital as of February 27.

Three were reported by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with another three at Southport and Ormskirk and one at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

However, no further deaths were recorded at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust or at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24 hour period.

These are cases where a patient has tested positive within 28 days of their death or where Covid-19 is mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

They do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
