AN OUTDOOR gym in Tyldesley is to be fenced off after a teenager was seriously injured in a motorbike incident.
The facility at York Avenue, Shakerley, is to be fenced by Wigan Council after an incident last week when medics had to treat a teenage boy for a "serious leg injury" after he came off a motorbike.
Residents say the area has been plagued with illegal off-road quad bikes and motorcycles for many months.
It is believed another incident involving a youngster and a quad bike occurred a few months ago.
Tyldesley councillor Nazia Rehman has held urgent discussions with senior officers at Wigan Council community resilience team and Greater Manchester Police.
She said: "I have been contacted by numerous Shakerley residents expressing serious concerns about the safety of children using the outdoor gym and I welcome the council’s quick and decisive response."
