The UK has left the EU but, in the spirit of entente cordial, I have an appeal to make of the good citizens of Bury, specifically people in Whitefield.

I have lived in Belgium for two decades but, prior to moving this side of the channel, I had a good friend who lived in Whitefield. I am now appealing for help in tracing this person.

Sadly, I do not have a great deal to go on, hence this “plea for help”.

Her name is Lisa Golding though her surname may have since changed if she is now married.

I lost touch with her around 1984 when, at the time, she lived in a terraced house in a cul-de-sac in Victoria Avenue. Lisa was in her early 20s and she had a younger brother, Paul. She worked for a spell as a market trader

Having been born at Fairfield Hospital, raised in Whitefield (most recent address being Stanley Road) and attending St Bernadette’s Primary School. I was working at the time at the now defunct Salford City Reporter newspaper.

Apart from just wanting to know how Lisa is, I have found some treasured mementos in the attic of our home in Belgium of our friendship back then which it would be great to share with her. These were found on a recent search of my old personal belongings, now languishing in the attic of our home here in Belgium.

They brought back lots of lovely, happy memories of the friendship we shared back then and got me wondering how Lisa is these days and what she has done with her life.

After such a long period of time, I have little hope of tracing her, if truth be told, but,as they say, “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

If anyone has any info on how I might contact Lisa that would be magnifique and to which I could only say “merci beaucoup”.
