Five more coronavirus deaths have been recorded at the borough's hospital, according to NHS England.

The deaths occurred between Friday last week and Monday this week as Bolton's coronavirus infection rate remained relatively stable.

Two of the deaths after a positive coronavirus test at the Royal Bolton Hospital happened last Friday, with another three recorded over the weekend, with one on Saturday and two on Sunday.

This takes the overall number of patients who have died from coronavirus at the hospital to 509 since the start of the pandemic.

Across England, 1,610 more people died from coronavirus as of Tuesday, the highly daily figure since the pandemic began.

Bolton's rolling seven day coronavirus infection rate also rose marginally again, according to the latest figures.

Figures from Public Health England released on the government's coronavirus dashboard showed that Bolton had recorded 1,116 new cases of Covid-19 in the seven days leading to December 14.

This equals an infection rate of 388.1 per 100,000 residents.

This is an increase from 381.5 the previous day.
