A WOMAN died following a a fire at a block of flats in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at an address on Haydock Street yesterday evening at 5.30pm.

A 58-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene but officers said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Three fire engines attended the incident and tackled the blaze for two hours.

Her next-of-kin has been informed and a file has been passed to the coroner.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 5.30pm on Tuesday 12 January to a report of a fire at an address on Haydock Street, Bolton.

"Emergency services attended and sadly a 58-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her next-of-kin has been informed.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a file has been passed to the coroner.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 5.10pm on Tuesday 12 January, three fire engines from Bolton Central and Bolton North fire stations were called to reports of a fire involving a flat in a domestic property on Haydock Street, Bolton.

“Crews arrived quickly at the scene and firefighters wearing breathing extinguished the blaze using one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan. GMFRS crews were in attendance for around two hours.”
