AN ARTIST trained at Blackburn College University has been selected for a prestigious painting prize.

Sarah Earnshaw, 25 from Swinton, is a BA (Hons) fine art graduate who graduated from the college in 2017 and was thrilled to hear she had been recognised with the Liverpool John Moores Painting Prize.

She has been chosen alongside a range of talented artists from around the country.

Ms Earnshaw said: "I am so excited to have been chosen as part of the final 67 artists showing in the John Moores Painting Prize 2020, I can't quite believe it!

“In my time at Blackburn University Centre, I gained so much confidence in my artwork.

She added: “I'm so proud that since leaving University in 2017 I have entered competitions and managed to be in an exhibition every year since, including winning First Prize in the Wigan Exhibition.”

Ms Earnshaw has previously had a commissioned exhibition at the PRISM Contemporary gallery in Blackburn for her work 'Fabrications' for the British Textile Biennial.
