TRANSPORT for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and workers union Unite have condemned yobs who have thrown bricks and other objects at buses in Johnson Fold.

On Saturday, November 14, Vision Bus had to stop its 502 and 503 running through Johnson Fold after reports of youths throwing bricks at services.

And on Tuesday evening, Diamond Bus' 501 service had to be diverted after louts threw objects at a vehicle.

TfGM's TravelSafe partnership manager, Kate Green, said: “Such incidents of mindless vandalism not only endanger drivers and customers but also cause buses to divert from areas where people are reliant on them.

"The safety of staff and passengers is our highest priority and we are working through the TravelSafe Partnership with the operator and police to end this reckless behaviour before someone ends up hurt or worse.

“I would encourage anyone with information to contact Greater Manchester Police.”

Unite regional officer Dave Roberts added “We take very seriously incidents of this sort that endanger both drivers and passengers.

"We would urge the police to take a strong line in tacking this vandalism and that the courts hand down heavy penalties to those found guilty.”
