RAMSBOTTOM is the latest town in the borough of Bury to open a walk-in coronavirus testing centre.

The centre, which will be by appointment only, can be accessed via Great Eaves Road and will open its doors on Thursday, November 26. It will be open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm: to book a test, go to www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

It complements a number of centres set up across the borough which offer a mixture of booked and drop-in walk-in tests plus a drive-through site.

Residents have been reminded that they should only book a test if they have symptoms of coronavirus: these are a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) is operating this site on behalf of Bury and have very strict requirements to ensure they can operate safely. Visitors are reminded to wear a face covering when they come for a test.

Councillor Andrea Simpson, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Testing is crucial in tackling this pandemic, and we are delighted that centres are now open in all parts of the borough to make it easy for people to get a test.

“With walk-through, drive-through, bookable and home tests now all available, local people have a number of options.

“Please only request a test if you have symptoms and, if you book an appointment that you decide you don’t need, please cancel it to free it up for someone else who needs a test.”
