A MUM is raising money to build a hydro pool at home for her disabled daughter.

Carolyn Pyle, from Rishton, set up the fundraiser two weeks ago and has already raised £1,560 of her £2,000 target to build a hot tub for 10-year-old Leila-Rose Ainsworth in their garden.

Leila-Rose was born with cerebral palsy, and after two operations four years ago, developed osteoarthritis and juvenile arthritis, which also attacks organs in the body.

This means she cannot walk or move her body much and will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Her pain only subsides when she is in a hydro-pool, but since the pandemic this is not possible, so her mum and dad, Jordan Pyle, want one for their home.

Mrs Pyle said: “I want to raise money because we want to get the area decked out, so we can get her a hydro tub for her exercise and comfort.

“She cannot take part in physio and the only time she feels relief is in the pool, but she has not been since February.

“If we build one at home then she can get into it whenever she needs to.”

After her second and third operations, Leila-Rose’s condition worsened, and she was sent from Blackburn Royal Hospital to Preston and then Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Leila-Rose takes injections to manage her conditions and will need them her whole life.
Her mum said: “She is in constant pain but when she is in the water, it helps her muscles. It makes her feel comfortable and she can move her legs a little.

“She loves the water.”

Mrs Pyle describes her daughter as always happy and smiling despite the pain she is in. “She is such a happy little girl, but it is sad to see that there is not much for her to do here.

“Where we live there are no places adapted for a disabled child, so she struggles to find places to fit into.

Leila-Rose also lives with her older sister Georgia, 21, 15-year-old brother Jack and four-year-old step-sister Myla.

She is also due an operation on her spine, but this has been cancelled twice due to the pandemic.

She also missed out on a dream visit to Disneyland Paris this summer with the help of the Make-A-Wish charity.
