Another East Lancashire market has announced it will be staying open during the month long lockdown, with a number of stalls aiming to provide 'essential' services in-line with current government legislation.

Darwen Market will be open as usual for essential shopping only, with the following stalls providing food and other items:

• Wood’s Fruit and Veg

• Turner’s Butchers

• Ruston’s The Bacon Stall

• Leeming’s Butchers

• Tease Your Tastebuds Delicatessen

• S.Parr and Son Chicken, Egg and Cheese Stall

• Steff’s Pets Stall

The following stalls are open for take-away:

• Gilly’s Sandwich Stall

• Budapest Langos

• Deli Carlo

• Sweet Vintage

Teleman is also hoping to offer a collection/delivery service, with more information coming soon.

Turners Butchers, Rushton's The Bacon Stall, Tease Your Tastebuds, Woods Fruit and Veg and S.Parr and Son are also offering both delivery and collection options, and Leemings Butchers are also doing collections and can deliver to those unable to come to the market.

A spokesperson for the market said: "A number of businesses deemed essential and non-essential will be offering delivery and collection services.

"Whilst this is in place, individual trader’s opening hours may vary.

"There are some changes at the market; some areas are blocked off for safety reasons, extra cleaning is in place and shoppers are encouraged to follow the latest government advice; hands, face, space.

"Darwen Market are asking all customers without an exemption to wear a mask in the market, for customers to maintain a two metre distance from others, where possible, and to make use of the hand sanitisers provided.

"Darwen Market are keen to help you to keep shopping with the market traders, safely, at this challenging time."
