A FOOTBALL mad lad from Accrington raised £1,000 for Springhill Care Home.
Seven-year-old star striker, Denys Holden did his Kick for Carers football fundraiser during lockdown.
Family and friends sponsored him and he was awarded £250 from housing developer Taylor Wimpey to help him reach his final target.
Mum, Hayley, spotted the perfect opportunity to do this whilst keeping active over the summer months, setting her son the challenge of reaching 5,000 points on his inflatable football target.
She said: “He was getting bored during lockdown and needed something to focus on – seeing Captain Tom Moore on the telly sparked the idea of doing his own fundraising activity for a good cause.
“After chatting about how much he enjoyed going to Springhill Care Home to sing Christmas carols last year he was very happy to have somewhere he was going to help.
“We want to thank Taylor Wimpey for the generous donation and say a big thank you to friends and family who were so willing to contribute.
“Denys reached his goal of 5,000 points in three weeks and was thrilled to be able to help the care home.”
