HEAVY showers are expected to batter the borough this week – with a yellow weather warning for rain coming into effect on Thursday.

Today's dreary skies and wet conditions are expected to continue across the week, worsening towards the end of the week.

The Met Office believes that flooding and transport disruptions could be seen, with people in Bolton set to see the worst of the weather ending on Friday evening.

Homes and businesses could become flooded, with certain roads and paths at risk of closure.

Communities could be cut off by the poor weather conditions, and people have been urged to check on any elderly or vulnerable neighbours to ensure they are prepared.

Most of Greater Manchester, parts of Lancashire and Cumbria, and a significant portion of Western Wales has been given the warning, with further details available on the Met Office website.

No flood warnings are in place across the region, but this could change as the rain continues.
