A MOTORIST who ran into the back of another car was found to be nearly three times the legal drink drive limit.

Blackburn magistrates heard Shaun Burke said he was normally a very good driver.

Burke, 54, of Edleston Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with a six months alcohol treatment requirement and 40 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He was banned from driving for 28 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £90 victim surcharge.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said another driver reported how Burke stopped for no apparent reason.

"The witness pulled round Burke and then stopped at the lights further down the road at which point the defendant ran into the back of him," said Mr Robinson.

Burke, who was not represented, said he was sorry for what had happened but the other driver should not have undercut him at the roundabout.
