A Bolton MP is claiming that the prime minister is "backing Bolton".

Mark Logan, MP for Bolton North East, who recently signed a joint statement with other Conservative Greater Manchester MPs saying that Andy Burnham had "failed in his duty" to reach a lockdown agreement, met with Boris Johnson in the House of Commons yesterday.

He posted this meeting on his social media saying that "Boris Johnson is backing Bolton".

This came after Boris Johnson said that a £60m support package for businesses affected by new coronavirus restrictions will be distributed across Greater Manchester.

However, Mark Logan yesterday voted against a Labour motion in Parliament calling for a "fair one nation deal", to give areas being moved into higher local restrictions the financial support needed to support businesses and workers.

Chris Green, MP for Bolton West, voted with the Labour party for the deal.

Mr Logan posted on Facebook yesterday, saying: "I spoke with the Prime Minister a few moments ago. And he’s putting all of government’s energy behind making sure you get the financial support in Bolton that is needed.

"In Prime Minister’s Questions, the PM said that the £60m will be given to the boroughs of GM and explicitly stated Bolton North East will benefit.

"I’m not going to stop until Bolton gets what Bolton deserves. It’s quite simply what I’m here for."
