BOLTON-based sports shoe giants Reebok unveiled a revolutionary new concept for their latest basketball boot in 1990.

The Pump was proving a massive hit in America, offering an inflatable lining which could be filled using a special ball on the tongue of the shoe.

To mark the launch of the The Pump, a giant 15-foot boot was produced and went on display at the company’s head office in Silverwell Street and youngsters Stuart and Lauren Curle tried it out for size.

The Pump sold for £130 a pair on launch.
