A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in a house fire in Stockport.
Police were called by the fire service at around 9pm last night, Tuesday, to a report of a fire at a property on Windermere Road in Heaviley.
Emergency services attended and sadly found the body of a man within the property.
A woman aged 64 has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A scene remains in place on Windermere Road while enquiries continue.
Police are treating the fire as an isolated incident enquiries into the circumstances of the blaze remain ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand of Greater Manchester Police's Stockport District said: "Very sadly, we can confirm that last night's fire has led to the death of a man.
"Specialist officers are supporting the man's family at this distressing time and our thoughts remain with them.
"While we have arrested a woman in connection with this incident, we would continue to appeal to anyone with information to contact officers.
