A charity helping to alleviate poverty in Bolton has revealed a big boost in its food donations and lunches provided to families over August.

Urban Outreach posted on Twitter saying that it had provided 1460 food parcels feeding over 2658 people whilst also delivering 605 lunches to families who missed out on the free school meal vouchers for the summer holidays.

A post on their Twitter page revealed these numbers and said: "Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Food Hub over August! We truly appreciate you all.

"2658 people were fed and a further 605 lunches were added to food parcels to families who missed out on the free school meal vouchers for the summer holidays."

Bolton Mayor, Cllr Linda Thomas, congratulated the group, saying: "Bolton indebted to you Urban Outreach and your partners.

"Thanks also to all those kind people who donated. Bolton needs to keep pulling together as the pandemic strikes our town again, food hub feeding our town, fantastic."
