A NUMBER of coronavirus cases have been confirmed at a school for pupils with special educational needs.
Information passed to the Lancashire Telegraph claimed there have been eight confirmed cases of Covid-19 among staff and children at White Ash Primary School in Oswaldtwistle since last week.
A source close to the school, who did not wish to be named, said: “We believe the staff and the vulnerable children need more protection.
"Public health need informing and the school needs shutting for a deep clean."
But head teacher Sarah Holt said procedures have been followed. She said: "We have been advised of a number of positive cases and following our robust procedures individuals within two bubbles connected to the school who may have been in close contact have been asked to isolate.
"We have a very detailed risk assessment in place for just this sort of incident and are following our plans carefully.
"Parents have been kept fully informed."
