THE winners of a photography competition documenting life in Bury during the coronavirus lockdown have been announced.

Tenants of Six Town Housing properties were invited to send in their snaps capturing how communities across the borough have come together and overcome difficult situations during the Covid-19 crisis.

A wide variety of entries were submitted including photos of volunteers working at Radcliffe food bank and a social-distanced birthday party.

Out of all the incredible entries, four winners have now been chosen at random.

These were photos by Heather Higson, Charlotte Taylor, Tracey Shaylor and Ann Pearce; who will each receive a £25 shopping voucher.

All entries have also been added to an online gallery to document the moments for future generations.

Winner Ms Shaylor, from Bury, submitted a photo of her niece, Sophia, who she has been working together on arts and craft projects — including the pictured ladybird house.

She said: “I feel it’s been a sign of the times, home schooling and connecting with nature again.

"Sophia has shined throughout the different lockdown craft projects.”

Fellow winner, Heather Higson, had been working with her granddaughter helping vulnerable and isolated people.

A spokesperson from Six Town Housing said: "It’s great to see how people have been finding ways to stay positive despite the many challenges.”
