There is no doubt that the Eat Out to Help Out scheme was a huge success - over seven million meals were claimed for in the North West throughout August.

The discounts proved so popular that many eateries have decided to continue with their own version of the scheme throughout September.

Across the borough eateries are giving customers the opportunity to grab a tasty bargain during the next few weeks.

Retreat Restaurants, which own three sites in Heaton, Bromley Cross and Adlington are offering their own discounts.

Manager Bradley Harper said: "We are running our own Eat Out to Help Out scheme on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays where you can have a main meal with a soft drink for £5.

"It's one discount per person and there's a £10 threshold, it will be throughout September."

Meanwhile the Spread Eagle pub in Bromley Cross will also have several offers running throughout the month.

Assistant manager Lyndsey Mayle said: "We are carrying on with the scheme for the whole of September.

"On our light bites menu from 12pm until 4pm we will be offering 50% off and we also have an offer of 50% off our two course and three course set menus.

"It will be valid Monday to Wednesday and our normal menu remains full price."

Heavenly Desserts on Deansgate in the town centre are also extending the scheme.

They are offering 25% off your entire bill from Monday to Wednesday, excluding fondues and afternoon tea.

According to data released by the Government, as of August 27, 206 eateries in Bolton had signed up to the scheme, not including any chain restaurants with more than 26 outlets.

A total of 219,000 meals were claimed on the discount scheme throughout the borough, with £1,382,000 worth of discount being claimed.

Across the North West 7,226 outlets signed up to the scheme and a total of 7,368,000 meals were claimed for.
