A DRYER set on fire in a kitchen in Walshaw but the occupants managed to escape safely after following "textbook" safety advice.
The blaze broke out on Grassington Court at around 11am on Wednesday and the smoke alarm was sounded.
The female resident evacuated the property with her children and shut the kitchen door.
Fire crews then arrived and put the flames out, which were contained in the one room.
Bury Fire Station crew manager Hadley said: "The woman heard the smoke alarm and went in the kitchen and saw it was a fire and told the kids to get out and then shut the door.
"She did everything she needed to do so stop the fire spreading to the rest of the house.
"It was what we call a textbook fire."
