Police have been conducting speed checks around Bolton town centre this morning, catching several cars travelling over the speed limit.

Lots of drivers were clearly putting their foot on the gas and completely disregarding the 30mph speed, with officers describing the behaviour as 'crazy'.

Speeds of nearly twice the limit were recorded by some drivers, putting both those behind the wheel and pedestrians in danger.

Cameras caught one Volkswagen travelling at just under the national speed limit, in a 30mph zone.

The vehicle was recorded at 57mph shortly after 10.15am.

Meanwhile, cameras captured a sports car nearly an hour later travelling at 49mph.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Traffic police support community officers are engaged on speed camera activities in Bolton.
